The Cartoonist Studio is a new, still-growing and still-developing group online home for some of the biggest names in cartooning. You can find inside stuff from the likes of Rick Kirkman (one-half of Baby Blues), Tom Batiuk (the creator of Funky Winkerbean), and Jan Eliot (the creator of Stone Soup). You can check out some exclusive looks at their studios, read some rambling blogs, and get feeds of their comics. It’s pretty cool.
The Studio also has a feature for aspiring cartoonists to create their own little mini-pages, called The Amateur Cartoonist Cubicle. The site is still ironing out some kinks and building up features, including a contest for amateurs, but it’s a fascinating project nonetheless.
So if you’re an up-&-coming webcomics or newspaper comic creator and want a place to try and connect with your idols, or are just a fan wondering where exactly Speed Bump gets made, check it out.
