Random Record Review – Latin For Truth, “We Are Sick Of Not Having The Courage To Be Absolute Nobodies” EP

Latin For Truth

“We Are Sick Of Not Having The Courage To Be Absolute Nobodies” EP

self-released (2009)

Latin For Truth are definitely not afraid to dip their feet into the pool of melodic hardcore punk, going a little bit everywhere with it.  “88 Says” and “Natural Tailor…” could have been almost poppy punkish songs, while “Phuckette Motorsports” is way more hardcore and angry in the vein of Braindamage or Kill Your Idols.  Honestly, if I didn’t know any better I’d think the last song on the EP is from a different band.

All in all it’s an OK little free EP, there’s definitely a lot of potential if LFT didn’t do what I hear a lot of bands do, which is just sound like every band in their record collection that they really like.  It’s not bad, but it’s definitely something you grow out of as you find your own sound.  I’m excited to hear Latin For Truth‘s real sound.
